GARUDA PURANAM :
Brrahaspathi is the kula dheivam of Sri garuda . so , the garuda slokam & garuda dharshanam is an auspicious one , especially for the unmarried girls . He is vaikunta nithya soori . the day gajendra was saved from the mouth of the crocodile , the aspect of garud...a fell on gajendra , was on Akshaya thrithiyai . When garuda was carrying the Amrutha kalasam ( the nectar ) , the female grass kept under it is called visvamithram – the dharppam . as the nectar dropped a little on it , got the name to it as Amrutha veeryam . The bones of Valasura swallowed & spat out by Garuda is called the jade . Whenever Sri Krishna was outside his Dhwaraka , it was garuda who guarded it . Because the Tanjore is in the shape of flying garuda it has a name garudapuri . When any kumbhabhishekam is performed properly , garuda will fly over the that temple & fly clock wise . if the garuda sloka read before yathra , no obstacle will be there . On whichever agriculture land , garuda’s shade falls , it will yield more crops that year . USA’s emblem is garuda . His sons sampathi & Jatayu helped Srirama . If name of Karkotaka is chanted daily , they will get rid of the evil effect of the Lord Saneeswar (71/2 years )Garuda wears that karkotaka as hara in his neck . Mourya worshiped garuda & Samudra gupta & kumara gupta printed garuda in their gold coins to keep their treasury full of gold . The small bit of the Meru mountain hit by garuda which fell in the sea is Srilanka .
Once , in Naimisaranya , the sages asked the Sootha maharshi ( Disciple of vyasa ) “ Why the birth & death happens to the creatures of the world ? Why some people suffer with incurable diseases ? Why is the soul reaching the heaven or hell after death of the body ? Why some souls wander as ghosts ? What is way to attain eternity ? “ The Sootha Maharshi said “ these same questions were once asked by garuda to Sri Mahavishnu . And I shall tell you the same explanations of Sri Bhagvan given to Garuda . “ And the explanations given by the Bhagvan to Garuda is called Garuda Puranam ! And , the Garuda Purana is one of the 18 puranas compiled by the sage Vyasa . It is veryauspicious & and a very good oman – shubha shakuna to have his dharshan & to hear tgaruda . The 20th sloka of soundarya lahari praises about the aspect of garuda . To read Garuda purana on the new moon , full moon , the birth of the Tamil months , eclipse , shraddham days – removes all the obstacles , grows & sharpens the knowledge , removes the difficulties & ensures the good life . If this book is given free to vedhotthamas ( (who has learned the vedhas ) , the pithrus bless us .
Finally , it is very important that one should know , while living itself , which considered as sin & what is the punishment for it after the life is over to avoid committing sins whether knowingly or unknowingly . Why to suffer in the hell , when we have such a wonderful & highly valuable grantha is here to save us from such sins & cruel punishments . The one & the only aim of this life is to the eternity to get rid of the numerous births after births , which is assured by this great grantha – garuda Purana .
It is very wrongly interpreted by some people foolishly due totheir illiteracy , that it is not to be read at home . It is definitely not so . How can a wrong grantha assure the wealth , happiness & eternity & ABOVE THEM ALL PREVENT US BEFORE COMMITTING SINS ? Hence , we all should think twice of such wrong interpretations & conclude this way to shun them aside .
May The Garuda Bhagvan showers his fullest blessings on all of us thoughout our life whoever reads this & follows this Great holy grantha .

GARUDA PURANAM – CAHPTER ONE .
Sage Suthsmaharshi was the disciple of the Great sage Vedhavyasa . The other hrushis of naimisaranya {Naimisaranya is the most suitable place for meditation , hence , it was selected by the hrushis to do thapas , for the sake of this world } asked him “ You had said in grand detailed manner the brhmmotthr PURn , SIVAPURANA , VISHNU PURAN , etc; Please tell us how the births & deaths happen ; Why ...are the souls reach the heaven & the hell after they leave their bodies ? Why do some people suffer from the incurable diseases ? ; why do some souls wander as ghosts ? ; What should be done to avoid birt ? ; What should be done to attain eternity – the sayujya ? “ And they heaped up the questions .
The suthamaharshi , firstly closed his eyes & & meditated on his guru & then Sri Mahavishnu . Then he said “ Hey ! Sanakadhi Mahrshe : The same questions were asked by Sri Garuda Bhagavan to Srimannarayana . I shal give the same explanations here , of what Sri Bhagvan gave him . This country Bharath is a Karma bhoomi . The best one to meditate . Especially , this Naimisaranya is most blessed one to do meditation ( Thapas ) . And , what a graet amount of punya I have gained to tell you the punya puranas , as you are you all got the opportunity to do meditation here . Because , Perumal
Answered garuda , this is called aptly “ Garuda purana “ !
It is certain that all all the people born here must die one day . Hence it is highly appreciated & advised to live : without forgetting & wasting the time , & to live without spoiling the wisdom given by the God ; will please the God very mush . For ,He is the father who is much pleased & satisfied , to find his children live honestly & highly disciplined .
The one who committed sins , suffers due to poverty .The one who collected large amount of punya , sleeps on enormous amount on wealth . Even , if born in the wealthy family , one must toil hard to earn money . What for ? Only to help the one who has born in a poorest family & suffers even to fulfill his least required necessities , due to his past sins in his previous birth . So , he gains the interest for his investment of punya .
Hence , he is blessed to be born continuously again & again with beauty & fame , as a heir, to a very honest & healthy parents .
Ahe who wastes the wealth of his hereditary or his self earnings in evil ways , goes to hell . Everybody must certainly realize that they can’t take even a cut thread with him THERE after his death . By the hard earned mony , you can go on pilgrimage & bathe in the holy rivers ; By the punya gained through the dharm done in the ways as advised in the shasthras , will come along with him after death . The gates of the heaven will be kept open for him . The angels will welcome him pleasingly .
You shouldn’t give up your karmas ( duties ) . You should neglect & be careless in : doing the sraddhas , the tharppanas , & doing the necessary duties to the athithis – the guests . Becayse it should be done with sraddha ( interest ) it is named sraddha . So, the pithrus will , in return , protect you from the early & untimely death & cruel diseases ! Will/can , the pithrus think about their heirs , if/when they suffer in the hell ? The dutiful person & the one pays well , will have good life in the next birth ; good son will be born ; will be blessed with the best , dutiful lovely wife ; will get higher education ; the fame will come in search of you ! He who doesn’t wish to have other’s wealth , will be born next , in a wealthy family !
The rebirth will not be in the case of the people who don’t do both the sins & punyas . the uttham , Bharatha Mahraja kept on thinking the lotus feet of the Perumal & lived in Salgrama for years . Just the little affection he had with a calf of a deer , made him to be born again , as a deer on the bank of the Ganges . Because , he had the memory of his previous birth due to his punya , he separated himself from his related deers & reached a salagrama , tae the grass for living . So , he was born again in a holy Brahmin family , but with the memory of his previous birth . hence , though he learnt all the shasthras , he lived a like jatam – lifeless creature . ( so , he was called Jata Bharatha later on ) he did whoever gave any work & didn’t care about the fun of others & didn’t accrue the wealth . He attained the sayujya – the eternity . Even though , one is born to enjoy his punya , if he lives honestly & lives by the guidance of his conscience , the following of his births will be a great ones surely . Why should the birth be hated ? Didn’t Bhagvan descend as dasavathars ? Sage durvasa cursed Ambareesha to be born as fish , turtle , pig and so on . The Bhagvan transferred the curse of His bhaktha to Himself . Even , when He descended as the Fish , He killed the asur Hayagreeva & brought back the Vedhas from him . No explanation is required for this . The Strength of the body too is a wealth . With it , one can save the weak ones . But, once the ego takes place , it will become like the hidden dirt in the butter .
At the time of stirring milk ocean to get the nectar , the manthra giri ( mathra maountain ) began to
sink . The Bhagvan transformed Himself into a turtle to lift it up . One should be helpful to the people who do great things , by words & actions ; Thus He made the world to realize it ; On the contrary , to become jealous & weaken it , will only earn the sins . HE didn’t think ill of the pig which eats the shit . it was only His horn , which brought up this earth , from underneath the pralaya ( the destructive ) water . When the watchmen of the Srivaikunta , Jay & vijaya , prevented the sages of Sanakas , they cursed them to be born in this earth . When they were born as the pairs of Hiranyakasibu & hiranyaksha ; Ravan & Kumbhkarn ; Kamsa & sishubala , the Bhagvan too had to descend as Nrusimha , SriRama & Sri Krishna .
We should understand that the yajman ( the boss ) too is responsible for the blunder of his servants . This is how the births are created by the chainlike reactions .
Thithi , unable to control her sexual urges , compelled her husband to quench it during the sandhyakal ( the mixing of the day & night ) , the cursed Jaya & Vijaya entered her womb . They were Hiranyakasibu & Hiranyaksha .
In the war of Devas & asurs ( demons ) , The Katvanka Maharaja fought on the side of the Devas & Got them the Victory . The Devas were pleased of him & asked “ What boon do you want ? “ He told them “ Tell me the end of my life ! “ Yama ( the lord of death ) looked Chithraguptha ( maintaining the accounts of the punya & sins of all ) refered his book & said “ still one muhurtha ‘s time only ! ( 1 hour & 30 minutes ) Katvanka immediately retuned to the earth & got relieved of all his responsibilities & by doing the Harinamasankeekeerthanam , attained the sayujya – the eternity .
The Narayana nama ( name of the Bhagvan ) is alone the key of the eternity . But , if Narayana Himself descend in this earth , must suffer the punishment due to His sins . In Ravathar , He killed Vali with his arrow by hiding . In Krishnavathar , he suffered like hell due to the arrow which hit him & His left the body . It was not the curse of Bhrugu maharshi alone the reason of Ramavathar . When Sukrachari , the asurs’ guru was standing upside down & doing thapas , Indra began war against them . They immediately surrendered the guru pathni Kyathi . (Bhrugu’s wife ) The Devas went after the asurs & she made them to sleep with her thapobal . The Thirumal – Bhagvan – sent His weapon Sudharshan & cut off her head . Bhrughu came on time there , & cursed the Bhagvan “ You too , who killed my wife , will lose your wife & wander !” Then Bhrughu , fixed his wife’s head with the body & sprinkled water & got her up alive by his Thapobal . The karmaplan will not leave one unless it gone through . Srihari created Brhma from His navel . From the Brahma’s nose , a pig came out & grew up too big – that was Sri Varahamurthy – Sriman Narayana Himself . The grandfather is born as grandson to enjoy the leftover wealth , sins & punyas .

THE BIRTHS AGAINST THE SINS .
He Maharshes ! Sriman Narayana tells Garuda “ He Vinatha’s son ! In this Bhooloka , there are 84 laks of yoni ( wombs ) . The first ( of its kind ) is the ones born out of the eggs – called andasam – 21 lakhs . The next one is , the plants – 21 lakhs – called urpism . Finally , the human , animals etc; growing in the wombs – 21 lakhs – called sarayusam . The ones ...created from the sweat is called swethasam . All these 21 lakhs are created from the spoiled/perished food , mud etc; like the mosquitoes , wirms etc;
By the punya obtained in so many births , the human birth is given . This is a rare one . The human alone can express his thoughts through the speech . They have been given the sixth sense too, which controls the 5 organs correctly . The human alone can can do the bhakthi , meditation , yoga etc ;. The animals like bull , cow, pigeon , garuda , swan , parrot , deer , elephant & monkey have a little senses & live . The people who , read the divine texts , teach/preach others doing discourses are considered the higher class . The gnanis are higher than them .
The plants , the creatures of the water , creatures like snakes , scorpions , birds & animals :- if they are helpful to others & then only their sixth birth will be human . if he is purely good & divine , he is elevated as deva . Otherwise , he will be reverted to useless plant with thorn etc; A dharmavan , will be born a fruit tree or a herbal plant or the peepul tree in which the 33 crores of devas live .
The fish got into the net of a fisherman , becomes the food of somebody & gets its next birth . The snake in the temple is worshipped by all .
THE ONE WHO KEEPS ON STINGING OTHERS WITH HIS WORDS , GETS HIS NEXT BIRTH AS SCORPIAN .
The one who looks after his family alone , will be born as a cancer . The One must have the sense to wish for the welfare of the Loka . Whoever is not useful to both the family & the country is born as a bat & keep hanging . it is punya , even if born as a banyan tree , to be born in a temple to give shadow to the devotees . The one in the forest is cut & used as firewood . The samith ( the wood sticks ) used in the yagnas , go the next better births . Whoever beautifies me , will be born as peacocks , parrots , & pigeons . Because you carry me , your group are honoured . The sharp sighted fellows will be born as eagles . The people who don’t feed the persons who come to them with hunger , will be born as vultures . The people who make others to wait for something , will be born as storks . To be born as the cow in a temple to give milk for abhishekam , the bull given to the temple to propitiate , the elephant to go in font of a God’s procession , plenty of punya should have been yielded .
*The one who talks ill of the guru & people who are pundits in shasthras, is born as a tiger .*
The mithr drohi is born as a fox or a donkey . The people who makes fun of the deaf are born as handicapped . Whoever refuse to give water for thirsty , are born as crows .
The persons who enjoy himself alone , the total gain by others’ efforts , are born as worms . The officers who let the old water tanks , wells etc; to become utterly useless ( spoiled completely in whatever manner ) , will be born as the bulls to plough the fields . The people who eat the square meals by hiding to the guests , will become ghosts ! The souls of the persons who give up their parents , wife & children , will keep on wandering only .
The phithrus don’t accept the sraddha & tharppan , who treats the athithis . The people who robbers , murders suffer 100 years as ghosts . The persons who seize the dhanam from others , are born as chameleons . When he is born as human ( at a later stage ) , he will die early or will suffer from the permanent poverty . The persons who spoils the others’ employment & enjoy , will be born as fish or whale . they suffer continuously as hare , deer etc; in the next births . The one who engages his daughter in the wrong path , is born as a worm in the shit & keeps suffering in his next births as a hunter , scheduled tribe etc; The people who enjoy women on important days like sraddha , vrtahas etc; are born as pigs & hens . The people who keep telling about others are born lizards & frogs . The employer who doesn’t pay well is born at the creature sucking other’s blood . The murderers will suffer from severe diseases like leprosy . He who keeps the birds like parrots in cages & ill treats them , will be behind bars . The permanent illness will make them to suffer , who torture any creature . The people eating non-veg , will be born as lions , leopards , wolves etc ; The people who speak hard & bad words , speak ill of others are born as dumb . The people who live from the earnings of the properties of the temples , are born as honey- bees. The judges who atrociously take bribe & give their verdicts accordingly , are born as mosquitoes , flies & the bugs .
The people who have given up sandhyavandhanam , & rationalists are born as pigs . And , further , they are born as servants . The desires of the earth , the women & the gold are the iron chains pulling people to the hell . The beastly people who do such nasty actions , burn themselves ( invite severe punishments .) The people who shun away the dharms , are born inefficient , & without the capacity to earn . They will be highly greedy . They won’t respect the conscience & the humanity . They will never have satisfaction . They will become slaves of the hot drinks & women & do all sorts of atrocities . Only such people keep on suffering in the hell . And, in their next birth , they die in accidents untimely . The people who kept on accumulating the wealth & simply enjoying it alone , won’t have the joy of the relatives . The heaven is only for the people , who live properly by controlling all the five organs & senses . The gold ornaments make the body beautiful ; the ornament of fame is the only true beauty . That will stand firmly even after the body is dead .

“ Vainatheya ! If you eat whatever tastes good to the tongue , it spoils the stomach & creates several diseases & ruins the beauty too . If one looks at the women in a temple , with the sexual urge , it erases the sense of bhakthi – the devotion - & sows the seeds of the sins in the... mind . The deer i...n the forest , would stand still attracted by the wonderful sound of the music of flute . At that moment the hunter flings the arrow on it & catches it easily . Thinking the fire as a fruit , the insects try to catch it & die by falling in it . And , the illegal sexual urge too is of the same type . It will bring only the diseases & ill – fame . The deer lost its life by its ear ; the lamp - insects lost their lives by their eyes . The hunt for the honey , kill the honey – bees by the fire & sieze their honey . The wealth accumulated, which is not given for/spent for the punya karmas , will become property of the thieves . Here , the honey – bee lost its life by its taste of its tongue . They show the female elephant to catch the male one . It comes in double up eagerly . The male , would fall in the pit & would become a slave of the human . Loving other’s wife , is the dangerous pit dug for one’s self . The fish , which tries to pull the worm in the sharp end of the fish – hook , loses its life . Here , the death occurs due to the smell . The who is born alone , dies alone too . In between , why should he lose his self respect , by getting caught by the maya – the magic nets ?
A rich bought an old house & rebuilt it . There were all the facilities in it , excepting the narrow entrance . One day he breathed his lost . Because , they too waited long , for the arrival of his son , the body became too rigid/stiff . After finishing the final rituals at the house , when they tried to bring out the body out of the house , to take it to the burial ground , the leg of the body prevented . It was of no use , however they tried . A vexed relative said “ There is no other go than to break the entrance to make it wider . Or the leg of the body must only be cut off !” Another relative brought the crowbar . The wife of the deceased , whose face swollen due to crying , said “ O , No , no & no ! Don’t ever break the entrance ! ‘ his mind ‘ can’t bear it ! This is only a body . cut of the leg ! in another few hours , it is going to become ashes ! “ At this , the soul of the dead , cried . “ For this woman , I gave up the dharm . She is presenting me the gift of ‘ making my body ‘ a handicapped one to give me a final send off ! And , I was very much pleased to beautify her body ! This the right punishment for
me !” The soul wept . if the amount of one’s sins exceeds the limit much too much , other than the punishments in the hell & the very low class births , he will have to be born in the earth too to very low class people & to suffer like hell again .
Valmiki’s parents & wife enjoyed his ill – gotten money by robbery , but , they were not ready to share his sins . That’s why , he became a saint . And , the great Sri Ramayan too was gifted to the world ! The way to the heaven is illuminated by the punya dhana , dharams only . To the misers & the sinners nothing can be seen . Only darkness . Even if the dhan , dharms too done sweetly , with bhathi
( devotion ) & sraddha ( interest ) the path will be clean , neat & with good smelling garden & without any stones , thorns & untidy , suitable to fly in the vimana ( plane ) ! The eternity ( mukthi ) is easily available to the people , who help the poor & the orphans , with broad mind . The punya sought by the ill – gotten money , won’t get you the good & right births . “

GARUDA PURANAM : chapter 4 :- VRUSHOR SARGGAM .
“ Vaikuntavasa ! What is the way to prevent the pretha sareera ( form of soul ), for the humans , after death ? “ The Garudazvar questioned .
Thirumal answered him “ Garuda ! the human takes the soul form after his death . That’s the Pretha jenmam. One must do the vrushor sarggam , to avoid it . Whoever gives the calf (The male – the bull ) as dhanam , don’t get this soul body . Vrushabham means the bull . If one dies within the age of 5 , no pretha jenmam for them & no differentiation between sex in this regard . If the ox calf is given as dhanam after death too , erases the pretha jenma . On the eleventh day of a man’s death this should be done . No use of giving thithis , doing a lot of homams , observing vraths , without doing this dhanam . Whoever hasn’t done this karm a, can’t enter the moksha lok ( eternity ) Yama will take him . It is utthamam , if the wife or son or daughter of the dead one , does ! If no sons , the grandson or the grandson through the daughter can do this . “
“ Sriman Narayana ! Who has the right to do the last rites ( utthrakriya ) , for the people who have heirs ?”
... ... Perumal : “ Vinatha sudha ! You have asked a good question ! The santhana bhagyam is a very essential one for evey dhampathi ( couple ) . The people who have no issues , should help the poor children to grow up . If they don’t do the dhana dharm , not going on pilgrimage & the sons too give up the karmas , that soul will keep wandering with hunger & thirst , for very long years . They are the ones born as worms in the perished items .
So , before becoming old , one should do dhana , dharm & kshethradanam & collect plenty of punya . It is clearly visible that the money is reducing to a considerable amount, in celebrating the , birth of a child , marriage & buying the properties etc ;! Likewise the people should understand that their earned punyas too will become nil. Hence , they should keep on accumulating the punayas tirelessly . one’s punyas will go to the account of their heirs only .
Garuda questioned “ Is there any difference in self’s dhana , dharm & done by the sons ? “ ( these such wonderful questions were asked by Sri Garudazhvar to Sriman Narayana , only for the sake of us – the mankind & not because of His illiteracy . All the Gods are only trying to help us in all the ways they can to drive us towards the eternity . That’s the divine Dhayala & Karuna ! I am , adding this – my opinion only to make it clear that we should NOT under estimate the knowledge of Sri Garudazhva ! Only , a highly knowledgeable person can ask such brilliant questions .) The dhanam done by self with pure mind & firm belief , as per the shasthras , is more powerful ! The ONE single dhanam done by the self when alive & at the time of dying will equalize , the thousands of dhanams done after his death ! When the life of an aged person is prolonging in the last hours , it will attain peace immediately by doing some dhanams .
The dhanam done by a person should be good ones . it will be of no use to give the skeleton like cow , which has stopped giving milk ! The fully dried useless lands must not be given as dhanam . The punya won’t be accounted into the credit of the person , who gave dhanam if the person who got the pavithra ring aas dhanam , gives it to a prostitute ! So , the dhanam must be given to the right persons only .
The dhanams done at the holy places & at the banks of the holy rivers & tanks yield crores of punya . He should personally look after the cow , who received it as dhanam ! The Brahmin should not only be a one by his birth alone in such a family , but also should be well versed in Vedhas & with good conduct , which alone qualifies him accept the dhanam ! The dhanam accepted by a person with misconduct , only pushes him into the hell . if the person , sells the cow accepted as dhanam , will push his present & future heirs too into the hell ! The same cow given as dhanam to several people , is sin . To look after ones family is the duty of a person ; likewise , he should also spend a part of his income towards dhana & dharm to attain the eternity . An issueless poor fellow spends a little amount to do dhana , dharma & dies . And , a rich miserly fellow , erases his pretha janma after death , by the rich dhanamsdone by his sons . Of these two , do you know , who will reach the best Goloka ? The poor one alone will have the Royal welcome by the Devas . Even the Vrushorsarggam done in an unholy place & in inauspicious time too , is considered as the best !
Suparna ( Garuda ) requested politely “ Your highness ( devareer ) please , explain which are the auspicious times ? “
“ The full moon day in the month of Karthika ( Mid November to mid December ) & the dhwadasis of Uttharayana punyakala . are most auspicious . The homagni ( the homa fire ) should be grown by a purohith with good conduct ; and should worship the mathur deavathas , & praise ME ( Vishnu ) too with sthothras & manthras ; should bathe the vrushabha calf with the holy manthra water ; beautify it with clothes , salangai ( the ornament to be tied at the 4 feet ) ; and put on the flower garlands around its neck ; and, bring it around the homagni clockwise with 4 other such calves ! Then facing the North , should tell the calf “ You are the vrushabha in the form of Lakshmi ; You were firstly created by Brahma ! “ so saying , it must be given as dhanam . This is called the Vrshorsargga dhanam !
The one who does it when alive , must pour the holy manthra water on its tail & sprinkle it on his head !
( Me GNK :- such most important details of life , must be read , well in advance , only, when we are alive to perform these for our sake to escape the hell after death & to avaoid the pretha shareera ! What is the use of “ hearing “ about such shasthras from HIS servants , after attaining the unwanted soul form ? “)

Bhagvan said “ It s the duty of the sons to do the final rites & the sraddha , to th eparents “
... “ Swamy ! I beg you to please describe the tha yama loka too ! “ pleaded Garudazhvar .
“ Vinatheya ( Vinatha’s puthra ) ! The city of Yama – yama patnam – is 80,000 kadhams fara away from thie Bhoomi ! ( one kadham = 10 miles ) . Yama dharmaraja is its boss . His duty is to send his yama kinkaras ( servants of the yamaloka ) to bring the souls of the people , whose ayus is finished . The yama kinkaras are jet – black coloured , wearing the black dress looking fierce figures & keeping the weapons such as pasam ( the rope with which they bind the soul , of the size of a thumb ) & take them to the yamaloka . They will keep them infront of the kaladeva ( yama ) & ill wait for his orders . Yama will say “ leave them at their homes & can bring them back here after 12th day’s rituals are completed “ They will obey him . The soul made of the air , sees its burning body from the height of 10 muzham ( the length from one’s elbow to the finger tip ) in the burial ground . the punyathmas will laugh happily & the pavathmas will cry sorrowfully . That life – the soul gets its panda shareera after getting rid off the soul form after the completion of the day karmas & goes to the yamapuri on the 13th day . After burning the body , they should feed the soul for 12 days , in the home where it lived . Otherwise it will stand , crying pathetically , outside the house & tell all the people going via that house , about its thirst & hunger . By giving it panda daily , that soul gets its body part by part ; 1st day – head 2nd day – neck & shoulders, 3rd – chest , 4th – stomach , 5th – naval – 6th – back , 7th – genital part , 8th – this , 9th – legs , 10th – full body . So , by the pindas given daily for 10 days , the soul gets its pinda shareera fully . And , that life eats that’s given in its house on 11th & 12th days & stays there . And then it proceeds to the yamapuri .
On the 13th day , the kinkaras tie it with the pasa rope & pull it to the yamapuri . It has to travel 247 kadham ( 2470 miles & 8,00,000 miles divided by 247 = 3239 days = nearly 8.87 years. This calculation is as per this bhoomi. ) The restless & continous travel with hunger & thirst . That soul will suffer like hell throughout the travel to the yamapuri . On the is the vaivaswatha patnam . on seeing the animals there , one’s stomach will come to the mouth . There will boiling tanks . The clouds will be raining the blood . The panda shareera will cry loudly “ Oh , I am thirsty . Is it the city without even drinking water ? “ & keep going .
“ Oh ! My son , do you the breast which fed you are fully with wounds by pulling the rope so rudely ?
“ Oh , I spent all my life , in the dance operas , without going to the temples ? “
“ Aah ! Instead of chanting the names of the Gods , the tongue , which scolded them , is can’t even move now ! “
“ Ho1 Ho! How I prevented others from feeding the animals like dogs & cows “
“ HO ! The streets are burning like fire here . “
“ Hey ! how I spoke ill of the Mahans ? “
“ Oho ! nobody taught me that , it will be like this after death ! Why ? “
“ Aha ! What a blunder I did ? I gave up the Sandhyavandhan ! “
“ How I spoke ill of the Puranas , saying that they are all bluff ! “
“ Why did I not observe any vrath & fast ? I suffer now “
“ I felt proud in finding fault with others always “
Like this , all the souls will be crying like hell , all through their journey of about 9 years . The kinkaras will hit the souls with their weapons , when they cry and will scare them by saying “ Shut up & come silently with me ! “ & pull them along still more roughly & brutally .
Garuda “ if it is so , how long it will take them to reach the yamapuri ? “
“ Whatever I told you now is all for the papathmas . They can reach there as early as their punya is in their credit . The papathmas will take one year to reach there .
The yama dhooths 9 kinkaras ) will find out from their blabbering , their sins & will still torture them more & will say “ Didn’t you find out the evil routes to accumulate your wealth , though you got this rarest human birth ? didn’t you drive out the poor beggars ? Didn’t you seize your sister’s wealth ? Didn’t you rape many ? Will it become alright now , when you suffer for all your atrocious deeds ? “
The masyam , sodhakumbam given by the relatives , is the only pindam to the souls . Some times the jeevan will suffer from the storm there . Some places will be full of thorns . The wild animals like
Tiger & lion will be roaring from the bushes . their fearful fire like eyes will be scaring them . They will be compelled to sta fthere for a few days . They will eat the pindam given by their son on the 28th day there . On the 30th day , they will take the soul to another city called yaamyam . numerous pretha jeevans will be there in groups . They will stay there for a while & eat the 2nd masya pindam . Then they will be pulled through the stones & thorns full of path , throughout the day & night . They will be beaten by the horse whip , if they cry .
Next , they will reach the Sowry city ruled by Sankaman . There , they will get their 3rd month panda & continue the journey . Likewise , after they had their 4th , 5th & the 6th month pindas , they will reach the highly stinking river called Vaitharani . The torture of the kinkars to them on the way , can’t be described in mere words . The cows tail will be seen in front of them , to the people , who did the godhanam while living in the bhoomi . If they catch that tail , immediately they will be thrown on the other bank of the stinking river , within a second . The others will have to fall in that river . That river is full of the blood , puss , dirt of the ear , urine , & sweat . And , plenty of worms , insects, centipedes etc ; in it . After death of the person , hif his heir do the vaitharani godhanam , that soul will be saved ; otherwise , there is no other go for it to suffer in it for a long period . next , the kinkaras take the soul to the city ruled by the younger brother of Yama , called Vichithran . The souls will have to eat the 7th month pindasm . But , some ghosts . This will happen , only to the people who have not worshipped the God , the ones did the very atrocious paps – the sins . Half of the journey will be finished in the 7th month . That jeevan eats the 8th month pindam in the city called Pakvappadham & the 9th month pindam in the place called Dhukkatham & the 10th month pindam in the city called Naathaa -
krantham . The jeevans , who didn’t do the dhanam of the calf of the bull , will be shouting there in big groups . The jeevan gets its 11th month pindam in the city called Athaptham . And it eats its 12th month pindam in the city called Seethaaptham , where oppressive cold will freez the body . If the bed & wool dhanam are not done , the freezing temperature will make the jeevan suffer to the highest level .
The , which starts from there , keep on crying & blabbering throughout the way & reaches the Vaivasvatha patnam ( yamapuri ) finally .

Purushotthama – Sreeman narayana said “ Garuda There will be 12 sravanas . If they were worshipped in the Bhooloka , they would tell Yamadharma , only the punyas of the jeeven , deleting its sins . “
“ He Swamin ! Who are ...those 12 sravanas ? Why should they live in the Yamapatnam ? How do they know the sins & the punyas of the humans ? “ asked Garuda .
“ Suparna ( garuda ) I was in the Yoga Nidhra during the Pralaya floods . Brahmma Deva was created from the Lotus of my naval & was in penanace towards Me . So , he got the authority to create the Vedhas & the all the living beings . The Ashtadhikbalas & the Rudhra did their jobs . Yama was appointed in the Jaimini city to punish the souls according to their sins & punyas . He , alone , couldn’t find anything about souls .
So , he went to Brahma asked Him for assistants . Brahma threw a dharppai grass & these 12 Sravanas were created from it . Brahma said to Yama “ He Dhasrmaraja ! These Sravanas are capable of knowing all the souls’ ( whichever are being born & die ) sins & punyas . You punish the sinners & save the punyathmas , with the help of these Sravanas . “ And, in the same way everything is going on there in all these yugas . Dharmavans ( whoever lived in the dharmic way in Bhooloka ) will reach the yamaloka within a second in the Deva Vimana . ( plane ) If the annam is prepared in 12 khumbas & give them to the 12 honest & properly living 12 Brahmins chanting the Vedhas , after performing pooja to them , these 12 Sravanas will help & do good to that jeevan – the soul – by allmeans . If one hears their history with Bhakthi , the sins will disappear . If the heirs of the dead jeevan , do the annadhanam , the jeevan will not suffer in hunger during the travel there . If the vessel full of water is given as dhanam , the soul – the athma will not suffer with thirst . By giving the lighted lamp as dhanam , when it (athma ) goes through the dense dark forest .
By doing the Dheepa dhanam or the calf of the bull , the jeevan during the vaxing Moon’s fourth day of Kartthika month – the soul – will get a good life there. The soul- the athma – will keep on crying in front of its kin in the house where it lived . The pindam must be submitted to it daily with love & care . On the 11th or 12 day , dhanams must be given for the sake of that athma . By doing this , the Kinkaras ( the servants of Yama ) will not torture the soul . The umbrella for not to get wet with blood shower from atop & the chappals ( slippers ) to prevent the feet from the sharp stones & the thorns , must be given as dhanam . If the pindam is prepared with love & care , the panda shareeram will form properly . If the Bhoodhanam is given , the athma will live in the heaven luxuriously . “
Garuda asked “ What is paddhanam ? “ “ Garuda ! to save from the scorching Sun – umbrella ; when the legs sway , to walk properly – the walking stick ; to hide the parts – vasthram ( clothes ) ; For the kinkaras – ring ; to sit when tired in the places with insects & the mud – wooden asanam ; And, furthermore , kumbha jalam , annam , sacred thread , & the rice to cook if needed further , copper vessel ( sombu ) :- giving all these as dhanam is called “ paddhanam “ !
If 12 vessels with water ( kudam ) are given as danam , daily or altogether in one day , the Kinkaras will be satisfied & will take the athma without any torture to the yamapuri . By performing the monthly sraddham & yearly sraddham , the Kaladhothas too are satisfied along with athmas .
Vinatheya asked very politely ( with Vinayam ) “ He Jegannatha ! Please explain whether this panda shareeram & the the thumb size vayu shareera are different ones ! “
“ Immediately after death all get the thumb size vayu shareera . Pinda shareeram is available ONLY WHEN THE PINDAM IS GIVEN . The thumb size soul lives in the nearby Vanni tree for some days . Then it gets the body of Karma ( made as per the Karma ) It will join the panda shareeram later .
Chithra guptha is writing the daily account as said by the 12 sravanas . The account of the sins & the punyas of the jeevan will be read by Him . ( Chithraguptha ) The punishments will be decided by the Yama Dharama ! “

“ The kinkaras will scold the soul like hell with interest added to it , for the soul’s scoldings in the Bhooloka ! For the sins done by the shareera – the body – they will be fried in the burning hot oil in the big iron vessel . They will be beaten , ordering them to embrce the red hot copper pillar . This is for the “ raping type “ souls . Seeing all these punishments itself IS the punishment for the souls committed sins by the mind ; because they can’t close the eyelids ! “
“ He the Son of Kashyap ! Totally , there are 84, 00, 000 hells . I shall tell you about 28 very cruel ones to you .
THAAMEESWARAM : The people who enjoy the others’ properties & wives , & stealing other’s chil;dren will be tied by the Kalapasha ( the rope of the hell ) , pushed into this & beaten up ; they will be woken up from their faint & again will be beaten up unbearably .
ANTHA THAAMEESWARAM : The husbands & the wives , who were treacherous to their life partners are pushed into this hell . This is called ANTHATHAAMESSWARAM , because , their eyes are blinded by screwing with the hot iron rods !
ROWRAVAM : The people who act as the bhogus witnesses ; & who file the bhogus cases in the
courts , the people who erase the other’s families will be pushed into this hell . the people cheated by them will get the figure of an animal called RURU here . The tears rolled down due to the sadness of being cheated , will be collected with RURU as tears . This RURU will torture so fiercely , the ones who fall in here !
MAHA ROWRAVAM : This is called MAHAROWRAVAM , because , plenty of RURUS will be constantly hitting with their beaks , the people who cheated many people & brought them to trh eroads .
KUMBHEEBAGAM : The people who kill the birds , cows , deers, hares for the sake of their tsate ( to eat ) torturing them are pushed into this hell .
The oil will be always boiling here in the big vessels & the such sinners will be fried ( bgam – cooked ) in them .
KALASOOTHRAM : The people who : drive out their parents without looking after them , the people who torture the Mahans , are pushed into this hell . The Sun will be scorching like a great fire . And , the fire too will be burning in a big scale . Due to the unbearable heat of the body , the tongue will dry ; The hunger will make to suffer too ch ; The jeevan – the soul – will run here & there ; will roll on the floor ; jump ; will fall down unconsciously !
ASIPATHRAM : The people who spoke ill of their Kula Deivam – the family Deity , the ones who lived by gaving – up all their Dharm – the duties - are pushed into this hell . This is full of small & big sharp stones & many ups & downs . They will be beaten by a whip made of the leaves with sharpness like swords . The sinners will run here & there while being beaten up by these whips , will fall down on the sharp stones & will faint .
PIG’S FACE : The people who give verdicts [ judges ] atrociously , by taking bribes & wandering/living with pride ego , re thrown in this hell . The lawyers , who argue against the Nirapadhis ( innocent ) are also pushed in here . This hell is in the form of a pig’s face . The kaldhooths – the kinkars , break the hands & legs of the sinners like the fire wood . Then they will crush them in the juice machine ( like the sugar cane is crushed )
ANTHA KOOPAM [ [ DANGEROUS , SPOILED WELL ] : The murdererss are pushed into this well . The very sharp horned bulls will hit on one side ; On the otherside , the eagles & the vultures attack with their sharp beaks & eat the flesh ; Mosquitoes & bugs will suck the blood ; snakes & the scorpions will keep biting & stinging . The sinners will have to be there so many number yaears , according to the number hairs in the murdered man’s body & till then the murderer can’t come out of that hell .
KRUMI BHOJANAM : This hell is with area of one lakh yojana ( one yojana = 100 miles ) . The people who : ate selfishly alone , who drove away the guests , who screwd others with words like worms ; who insulted & spoke ill of the God ; are thrown into this hell ! The very moment they are pushed into this , they change into worms . they will be tortured by the big sized worms !
AGNIKUNTAM : This hell especially for the people , who robbed & stole . The sinners are pushed into the fire & fried with the help of lengthy steel oars.
VAJRAKANTAKAM : There will be a red hot boiling pillars . The women who slept with others , without the knowledge of their husbands , themen who were always in prostitute’s house ( shunning the wife ) are pushed into tjhis hell . They will be beaten by the whips , compelling to embrace those pillars . Their bodies will be pasted with those pillars till their sins are over .
SANMALI : The womanisers , who always have sexual relationship with any type/category of the women , in the very lowest level [ who don’t care for any good , bad , quality in life ] , are attacked with thefierce weapos with svery sharp , having iron thorns .
VAITHARANI RIVER : This river of blood , is full of crocodiles , snakes , bones , flesh bits , urine & shit . Even if they are swollen by the whales , they will come out again to suffer , because they can’t DIE there . They will suffer with the wounds with puss & cry . if they open their mouth to shout , immediately a big bunch of hair will get into the mouth .
BHOOYOTHAM : there will be jiant size crabs , frogs etc ; in this pond of urine . The sinners who are pushed into this , keep beating each other . The people who live shamelessly & spat by the others , are pushed into this hell . When those souls – sinners – try to climb up & get out of it , slip through the phlem & fall down it again & again !

PRANARODHAM :
The people who : Earn/make use of /make money to the maximum level , through keeping animals like dog , donkey , bull etc; & then , when they are no more useful ; drive them away & beating ;
treating them cruelly ; such sinners are pushed into this hell & tortured by bow & the arrows . The people who hunt the animals like the deer , hares etc are also pushed into this hell .
VIACHASANAM : The people who kill the cows for conducting the yagnas to get fame & for
namesake , are pushed into this hell & beaten with the whip of thorns .
LALAPAKSHAM : The people who torture their wives to have cruel/wrong sex desire , will keep on suffering in this hell of indriyas . ( organs )
SAARAMEYAATHANAM : Burning the houses ; seizing others’ properties ; poisoning others by vengeance ; disfiguering others due to jealous ; the sinners who do such cruel sins are pushed into this dangerous hell & feed them with the flesh of the dogs ; these sinners will be hunted by 700 hunter dogs beaten by them cruelly !
AVEESI : The people who : boast themselves too much ; spoil/waste the food items ; the highly pride/head weight ones ; are pushed down from the top of this mountainous hell ; when the parts of the body are separated , the Kinkaras join them together & throw them down from the top , again & again !
PARIPADHANAM : The sinners who : compell others to drink the liquor ; the drunkards ; use the intoxicating items ; are pushed into this cruel hell . The sinners keep on drinking the mug after mug full of fully boiled hot iron , for the fear of the beating by the whip .
KASHARA KARTTHATHAMAM : The sinners who are wandering with much too much of head weight & pride , to insult the learned good people , are hung upside down in this hell ! And , the Kinkaras let lots of centipede varieties , bees varieties , on their bodies to roam .
RAKSHOKANAM : The sinners who are : conducting the yagnas by giving narabali
( scarifying the human ) ; eating the human flesh ; bot perfoming the rituals to the Pithrus ; killing the children ; are cut into many pieces ; the ones cutting them are , the ones suffered by them !
SOOLAPROTHAM : Killing the innocents ; torturing the ones for wealth , who have not done any harm to self ; committing suicde ; the sinners whoever did all these sins , are stabbed by the soolam in this hell ; the birds like storks , eagles sting at the wounds !
DHANTHA SOOKAM : The sinners who : gain by the adultrated items ; cheate the employees by not giving the right salary ; these sinners are chased by the 5 headed scorpions , 7 headed snakes etc will keep stinging them !
VATARODHAM : The sinners who torture the creatures crueally , living in the caves , tree holes , will suffer cruelly in this Hell of caves surrounded by the poisonous smoke & fire . The sinners who practice the black magic too are pushed in this hell .
PARYAVARTTHANAKAM : The sinners who : stinged the athithis with harsh words & hurting their minds very badly ; using the samitthus ( the herbal sticks used in the Homas ) wrongly , spoiling/ditiying the water ; are suffering in this hell ; Their eyes are blinded by the birds like crow , vultures . Sharp needles are sent through their nails .
SOOCHIMUKHAM : The sinners who ; cheated others by not returning back their debts ; pleased by burying the money ; accumulated the wealth & properties by atrocity ; the tongues of these sinners are plucked by the weapon called “ chandha misini “. They are also compelled to walk on the sharp swords standing erect on all the directions , in this cruel hell .
Apart from these , the sinners who waste the food , are kept in the big jars full of Kshara (salt ), after cutting the body into pieces .
The sinners who made others to shed tears , are dipped into the Asru ( water ) jar . thewater is the tears of people who shed them .
The sinners , who keep hitting others by their words , are pushed into the Ulakkai kuntam ( used to crush the things to make flour ) It keeps on hitting them continuously .
Koorma kuntam is the where the lazy fellows are pushed into . The suffering of enormous amount of tortoises will cover their bodies fully , will be there . Chakkara kuntam is ( wheel ) is the one where the sinners are made to keep on rounding on the wheels .
Karna visha kuntam ( piercing the ears ) is the one for the sinners who don’t listen to the advises of others & insulting .
Mangya ( fat ) kuntam is for the sinners who are arrogant due to their fat .
Vanni ( fire ) kuntam is for the sinners who burn due to their raging sense : others’ houses ; others’ fully grown up grain fields ; public properties ; !
Visha ( poisonous ) kuntam is for the sinners who give poison to whom they don’t like .
Sakkuntam ( death ) for the sinners who kill the innocent ones .
Dhooshika kuntam sis for the people who keep complaining about others always .
Kakakuntam is for the people who have discarded the Pithrukarmas ; The crows will keep hitting their bodies with their beaks continuously .
Thaptha soorik kuntam is for the sinners who keep on torturing others somehow ; they will be pinned by the hot , sharp needles .
The Siddhas , Yogis , Punyavans , & the people who are very dutiful in their rituals & duties , will not even be seen by the Yama Kinkaras .
All these 28 Hells have enormous , various fierce divisions in them . To avoid getting caught in them , one should honestly earn for the livelihood & live properly . By doing punya deeds , helping nature , performing the Pithru karmas ithout fail , one’s next birth will be an honourable one .

THE UPACHARA AT THE YAMAPURI !
Vainatheya ! If the heirs had given the dhanams of salt , cotton , til ( sesame seeds ) , along with the vessels , for the sake of the jeevan , it will get a beautiful karma shareera
( body ) in the Yamapuri .
If the heirs had given dhanam of 7 kinds of grains : wheat , bengal gram , til , horse gram , cow peas/black eyed peas , red gram/toovar dhal , green gram , along with the vessels , Dharmadhvajan , who is always with the Lord Yama , will get satisfied & will give avery good comment about the Jeevan to the Lord Yama , The Jeevan will get a warm welcome from the 20th kadham ( kadham = 10 miles ) . { The Jeevan stays at the Vanni tree nearby its house, till the 13th day of its death } The Lord Yama , who shows his fierce roopa to the sinners , with blood red/green eyes , will be seen as a Majjestic one to the eyes of the Punyasalis .
Yama will accompany the Punyasalis till the entrance of the Sathyaloka , which is on the way to the Surya Manadlam . When the Punya Jeevans enter his durbar , Yama Dharma would get up & welcome them ; Yama Kinkaras will stand on both the sides & welcome them .
Wisdom , beauty , wealth , fame , good health ; each of them are due to different Punya Phalan ! To be born without any handicap or defect in the body , too , is due to the Poorva Punya Phalan only !
Suparna ( garuda ) asked “ Madhava ! How is the Pretha jenma obtained ? Also , kindly tell me , how to get rid of that ? “
“ Garuda ! Whoever seized others’ properties , gets this Pretha shareeram . The same punishment to the sinner , who seizes the property after the death of a person .
The one who got this pretha shareeram , keeps on wandering near the house where he lived . He will stop the Pithrus from entering that house on their sraddh adays . He will eat the Havis of the Pithrus , himself .
He will not allow anybody to enjoy/use anything in that house ; he will prevent them from doing any dhanam too . Hence , that family will keep on suffering constantly .
He has the power to ruin & erase that vamsa too .
If the grand daughters & grand sons were already born , they will die of prematurely due to fierce deseases .
These pretha jenmas can’t do anything to the people whoever are doing : - the dhana dharmas , performing the pithru karmas regularly , saving & protecting the devotees , not eating the non – veg & not drinking the liquors , worshiping the God !
These are the only reason for : the death of the children immediately after birth , no male issues & for fighting with the relatives often !
The friend turning into an enemy ; Scolding & insulting the good people ; driving the parents out of the house ; doing the evil jobs like robbery & murder , the well grown up grains going waste in the fields ; losing the grains by thefts ; living by doing the shameful jobs ; reducing the body shining & attraction , own sun turning into an enemy ; living away from the life partner ; All these are only because of the pretha jenmas alone !
The family members suffering from allsorts of these difficulties & sorrows , must take initiative steps to for the sake of the pretha jenmas { to let them get rid of the pretha jenma }
The person who has got that pretha jenma will be with fierce face ; hi steeth will length like the swords ; He will come in the dream of the relatives & cry heavily in loud voice & threaten !
The people whoever : - spoils/make the tanks as plain ground , which is created to quence the thirst of the people & the cattles ; demolishes the free anna choultry & builds the house there ; or sells that choultry ; demolishes the temples ; swallowing the temple’s properties ; increasing the boundaries of the village fields atrociously ; making the water tanks plain by pouring a lot of sand in it to sell or to build the buildings on it ; died by the lightening ; committed suicide ; gives wrong judgements/verdicts ; torturing the cattles ; ALL THESE WILL GET THE PRETHA SHAREERAS !

PRPOITIATION TO GET RID OF THE ORETHA JANMA
Garuda Bhagvan asked “ Pleased be kind enough to tell me , what should be done to get rid of the pretha janma ! “
Sriman narayana said “ Must sow & grow Mango tree , cocoanut tree, peepul tree etc; ! Must grow the scented flower plants & give the flowers to people who do poojas ; must grow the grass to feed the cows ; Can create new well , public water tank ; can clean the old ones ; can bathe in the holy rivers & do dhana dharm & perform homas !
By doing these , the sorrowful difficulties of the realtives of the person in pretha janma , will be gone . Shouldn’t ignore the bad dreams , & tell the relatives about it & should find out the remedy for it . Must follow th edharm teachings of the learned people , positively . Nama parayana too will show the right way .
Must perform tharppan on eclipse , new moon , full moon , beginning of the Tamil months ,
Mahalaya , days , thinking of the pithrus . By this , they won’t be affected by the bhootha , pretha , paishashas .
One must never insult his parents , & gurus under any circumstances . They are first Gods . Doesn’t matter if he can’t go on kshethradanam , if he protects his parents ,
All the dana , dharm , poojas , theerttha yathras will be in vain , if one who is injuring the minds of his parents . After the demise of the parents , all the dhana , dharm , done during those 12 days , and on the thithi days too , will give beneficial result to the kartha . ( who performs ithem ).
Because , he gets them out of the hell called Puth , he is called Puthra .
The pretha janma is ure to the people die in accidents & by suicide . No any karma should be performed for them till the end of one year . After their first sraddha is over , after one year , then the proper propitiations must be done for them to get rid of their pretha janma dhosha .
I shall tell you a related history of these . Listen carefully . A king namely Babroovahana ruled over the his kingdom , with a city Mahodhaya as his capital , in the Threthayug . One day , he went to the forest to hunt , along with his soldiers . A dotted deer attracted him & hit it with his arrow . But , it didn’t die . With the not much wound , it disappeared in the forest dropping blood . Following the blood spots , the king walked a very long distance & reached another forest . The deer wasn’t to be seen ; As he was so thirsty , he found out a lotus pond & drank plenty of water , bathed in it & rested under a banyan tree & waited for his people . The Sun set in the west too . His soldiers were looking for him somewhere . Dense forest ; pretha janmas don’t have any flesh & bones ; hence they were shouting here & there “ Oh ! I can’t bear this hunger . Nobody look after me ! “ Babroovahana saw all these . He was shocked as well as frightened too .
But he somehow managed & pulled himself up & asked one of them which looked like their head “ Who are you ? What is the reason for your present position ? “
It said “ O King ! I was born in a Vysya family in Vaitheesa city . I married & lived happily ; followed all the vraths ; performed the Deiva poojas ; received the blessings of the Mahans ; never hurt even an ant ; helped the poor & needy ; After my life was over I went to the yamaloka ; I have neither a son nor the relatives to do responsibly the karmas to me ; hence , Yamadharama gave me this pretha janma ; I have been wandering with this pretha janma .
Because , the masikam , sraddham , sodhakumbam vrushorsargam etc ; which are performed to the dead ones , nothing of these was performed for me & hence this pretha janma . O King ! The guard of the people ! Please perform these karmas for me & get me out of this horrible janma . In return to that great help I give you this very valuable Gem to you as my gift ! “ And , that pretha gave it to Babroovahana . The king asked the pretha “ How can I perform these kriyas to you ? What are the karmas should I do to get you rid of this horrible difficult ? “ Oh ! King ! Must perform aradhana to Sriman Narayana ; grow agni & perform homa ; and, give bull calf as dhanam ; Must give umbrella , slippers , ring , clothes , gold , silver , wool , books , to the Brahmins . If you do all these , this pretha janma will be gone ! “
Thed King asked “ There are so many prethas wandering here ; have all of them no heirs ? “ O King ! No use of performing karmas to the people who robbed the wealth oif the lonely women , children ,& handicapped ! The persons who : liked others’ wives ; raped the unmarried girls ; seized the gold & 9 gems ; the ungrateful ones ; did crime to the person who did good ; this is the only punishment for all these people ! “
The pretha disappeared , when the sound of the King’s horse was coming . The King went back to his capital & performed all the karmas & dharms , to the vaisya properly as per the shasthras . That pretha janma got its freedom . Garuda ! Giving the vessel full of oil ( kudam ) , milk or ghee ( both are visesham ) full of vessel - in gold or silver - ( sombu or kudam ) ; performing the aradhana of ashta dhikbalas & Thirumal ; and then giving them ( vessels ) to the learned ones , will erase all the sins & the pretha janma . ! “ Sootha Maharshi told Sanakadhis that all these were told by Sri Hari !

II ND PART – CHAPTER No : 11
THE RITUALS DONE BY THE SONS !
Its is Shishu upto one year & four months ; Upto three years it is Balaka ; upto six years he is Kumara ; Upto nine years – Poundaka ; & upto 16 years – kaisora ; it is said like this ! If the child dies within its five years , milk sweet payasam & food m...ust be distributed the other children of that area ; On the 11th & 12th days , the rituals should be performed as per the shasthras .
If the child between the age of 5 to 12 dies , Vrushorsarkam etc; must be performed ; further , umbrella , lamp etc dhanams too to be given ; If it is NOT performed so , that soul will be born as a tree & it will have to give its parts as dhanam as - firewood , fruits etc;The shasthras say that father’s one part of jeevan is born as son ; therefore , the karmas must be performed by the son to father & by the father to son whoever dies first . There is one sun & moon only ; if 100 pots are filled with water & kept under
sun , sun will be seen in each pot ; likewise the moon too will be seen in 100 pots kept under the full moon’s night ! in the same way , many sons are born to a father . That’s why they resemble the father’s roop & quality ! Garuda interfered here & asked “ He Madhava ! If it is the case , why is not a blind son to a blind & a dumb to a dumb is born too ? “
“ SuSuparna ( Garuda ) ! A very special doubt , this one is ! That is due to the credit balance of that child’s punya phalan ! Of the two children born to two different parents , one may wealthy & the other one may be very poor . Likewise one may be with very good character & the other one may be characterless . The reason for this is , the punya & the sins done by those souls in their previous
janma ,only . Apart from this , the quality dhosha of their grand parents too to be considered in this regard .
The grand father might have accumulated the wealth by being a miser ; if the grand son spends in the constructive way ie; by giving dhanam & dharma , he would get the Vaikunta prapthi .; on the contrary , if he spends it in the lavish useless ways , only the sins will accumulate in heaps . The moment a person sees the very face of the son born from his wife’s fetus , he escapes from falling into the hell called Puth . The Vedhas confirm that the issueless person reaches the hell . The Phithru devathas are very much pleased while seeing the santhana bhagyam obtained through one’s wife .
Though one may have 10 sons , only the first one of them is eligible & bound to perform the last rites & all the other rituals of his father ; all the other sons can only be useful in this worldly life .
If a person dies after seeing his grandson , he will attain eternity ; if a person marries a girl without taking any dowry & keep her happily thoughout her life & if a son too born through her , that son will take care of the next 21 generations ! One who gets married to a girl of his same caste & gets a son through her , that son alone is called a sath puthra . He alone has the rite to perform the last rights & other rituals of his parents . The son of the concubine doesn’t have that much of right at all . He can perform the yearly sraddha to his father . that’s all . Hence , the human beings must always try to get a sath puthra alone . Though , he is a son ( of concubine ) , if the father becomes the reason of th edegrade of that soul , he will accumulate sins only . Whatever seen through the eys alone is not a pleasure . { ie; to live in whatever way as per one’s wishes & desires , is not a proper life }

Part II – CHAPTER – 12
All the Karmas ( rituals ) must be performed to the departed souls in the first year , as stipulated in the shasthras . the ritual called sabhindeekaranam must be done , which joins that soul with the souls departed from that family . By doing that ritual , the departed soul will leave its preth a shareera & mingle with Pithru Dedathas .
This Sabhindeekaranam can be conducted on the 12th day of the of the death of the person , or in 3rd Ppaksha or in the 6th month . But , the departed person will remain in the pretha shareera only , till this ritual is performed . Hence , till this Sabhindeekaranam is performed , the son of the departed shouldn’t perform any Shubh Karmas ! After the Pindam is joined in the Sabhindeekaranam , the depaerted will leave the pretha shareera & get Pithruthvam & be pleased .
After the Sabhindeekaranam is over , sraddham must be done to the 3 earlier departed generations of the parents’ side .
To the persons who have no son , his elder brother or younger one ( or last ) , or their son , perform the last rites; If there is nobody as said above , the dayadhis ( cousins ) can do it by taking the dharppa grass from the wife of the diseased . If they refuse , even the purohit can do it by taking grass from the wife of the diseased ! To an issueless women , her husband must perform the last rites . After joining the pindas , the sraddham must be done to three earlier generations of pithrus ; if it is not done so , its is a sin ; both the kartha & the purohith will suffer in the hell !
Even if there are many to do the kriyas ( Rituals ) to the dead , upto one year the same person must perform them . During that one year , along with the nithya thithi , Udhaka kumbaha dhanam ( pot full of water ) must be done . If the rituals are properly done without fail , the diseased will go the good place in the Vimanam
( divine Plane ) .
If a woman lives chastely dies immediately after her husband’s death , she will reach Heaven ; even if her husband is a great sinner , her chastity will take him too to Heaven along with her .
And , one sabhindeekaranam is enough to be done by the son of such parents ; but , the sraddham must be performed separately . If a woman : lives chastely thinking & treating her husband as God ; and be kind & good to all ; and dies along with her husband ; she will live happily in the Heaven with her husband for 3 ½ half crores of years !
The woman , who lives with another male after the death of her husband , will bring in Dhosham to the family she was born ; whether he is good or bad , however he is , if a woman lives chastely with his thought alone , during when he is alive & after death too , even the Devas will worship her .
It is the Dharm of the chaste women to be supportive & dutiful , by allmeans to her husband .
The woman who ignores her husband & lives as she likes , will reach the fierce hell after death . Further , she will get a very bad & cruel husband in her next birth , suffers endlessly .
“ Vinatheya ( garuda ) ! I have explained you : about the sabhindeekaranam , by which the dead attains eternity ; how both the her parents’ house & the husband’s house are honoured by a chaste woman ; & how she enters Heaven ! Do you have any more doubts ? “ asked Sreeman Narayana .

THE MAGNANIMITY & THE BENEFIT OF DHANAM
“ The cotton dhanam is also best . It is the from the cotton , the cloth is produced , which hides ones secret parts ! Cotton is essential for making the scared thread , which is the kartha of Upanayana . { secred thread ritual } Hence , it is called the Maha Dhanam . One gives the cotton as dhanam , will definitely attain the Kailash Prapthi . ¬ He will get a beautiful body & will be born with the logivity of life , in a very rich family . He will live with fame & finally will reach the Heaven .
I have already told you about th ell dhanam { Sesame } . if one gives Go { Cow } dhanam & Bhoomi dhanam , his entire sins will be erased fast . But , these should NOT be given to common people . Must be given to the rightly learned & good natured elders .
When a dhanam is given when dying , it produces the best result . The grahana punya kalam too is
{ Eclipse } the best time to give dhanam . The Swarna dhanam & the grains dhanam done during one’s lifetime , will erase sins of that janma . ( Birth ) . Giving iron as dhanam at the time of death , will yield eternity ; Lord Yama will be very much pleaed & will reduce the punishment . The thila dhanam
{ sesame } will clear the fear of Yama ! The cotton dhanam will create sympathy with the Yamadhoothas towards the human beings . The navadhanya dhanam , will make the Yama dhoothas to give the souls , the required convenience .
If a person keeps thinking of ME {Meditation } when he is in dead bed , he will be given the permanent residence in MY loka { Vaikunta Prapthi } . The dhanams given by one’s son from near his dying father , will yield best results than the Sraddham done by him after the father is dead . GARUDA ! All must realise that the pancha Bhoothas { earth , water , fire , air & sky } are MY swaroopa !
The GIVER is MYSELF ! And , the TAKER too is MYSELF ! the Heaven & the suffering of Hell , are attained by the souls according to their Punyas & sins done in their previous birth .
Suparna { Garuda } ! the one who gives dhanams in MY sthalas { Holy places } , gets extra punya . The one who does bhoodhanam , will live happily , plenty of years in the heaven . if the Dheepa dhanam is done , the light will go infront , while going with the Yamadhoothas . They will take the soul in the good routes . That soul has the power to his Pithrus also with it , if they are there on the way !

The death day is fixed on the day of the birth itself . so , one should accumulate punya by giving dhanam in his life time itself . The dhanam of the asana plank { wooden plank to sit } , the food { whether self cooked or by the servant from his self earning } & the copper vessels , will travel pleasurely through the sky , after his death . the people who give the elephant horses etc to the temple as dhanam , will get enormous punya . the Yama Kinkaras won’t torture the soul , who :
Give thamboolam { betel & nut } to the sumangalis & unmarried girls during the Navarathri & poornima { Full moon day } etc auspicious days ; giving thamboolam to the Brahmins & veddha pundits during the tharpana Amavasya } & sraddha days ; give flowers to archana in temples ; such souls won’t be tortured by the Yama Kinkaras . The kinkaras will be seen as sath purusha to the eyes of the person who does the Vasthra Dhanam . “
“ Garuda prayed humbly for answer “ Swami ! Please explain how the soul leaves the body ! “
“ Suparna ! The soul of the common man leaves through his eye , nose , mouth , ears , in the form of drops of water or , milk if poured in the mouth & in the form of blood if met with accident etc
The ganani’s Athma gets out through the crack of the Kapala { the crack that is created itself in the centre of the head } . For some of them , it gets out through their perspiration .
The sinner’s soul suffers heavily in various ways & then only leaves the body .
The body , after the soul leaves will become like a log of wood . The human body is comprising of : the Agni @ hunger ; the Vayu @ air ; Appu @ water , { sky is body ; the earth –soil is digested & produces the energy } ; the Pancha karmendhriyas of eyes , ear , nose , mouth & the sense of touching !
All these are hiding in the human body like thieves & mingled with each other . When the athma leaves the body , all these will mix in the sky . Again all these get together & the rebirth is attained due to the poorvakarma . { papa – punya } . Punyathma will be born in in a rich good family , without any defects in the body .
This body is connected with the flesh , bone , nerve etc; Atleast a little of shit & urine will be staying there { always } . all the navadhvaras { 9 holes } & the holes of through the hairs will keep on sending out the dirt ! the moment the soul gets out of the body , all these become dead . Not only the human being ; in all the souls the MAYA is hidden inwardly . Dhevas too have the body ; but , getting - old alone is not applicable for them !

PART – II CHAPTER – 15
DHAMPATHYAM + PATHYAM
Sootha powranika said “ He sages of this Naimisaranya ! The next question of Vinatha puthra
{ Garuda } is : ‘ How is this human body created ? ‘ Now I shall tell you the reply of Sriman Narayana .
Sriman Narayana :- “ He Kashyapa kumara ! By the dhampathyam of the male & female , the fetus is created , grows gradually & the child is born in ten months . The woman must be separated for four days , during her period . The shasthras say that it is a sin , even to see her during those 4 days . I shall tell you the reason for that , listen !
Once the Devendra killed Visvaroopa , who conducted his yagna , as his Guru . so , the Brahmahatthi dosha caught him . So , the Devas came to me & begged to remove it from him . I bifurcated that dosha into four parts & gave it to the Earth { Bhoomi }, women , trees & rivers . The salt soil is the Brahmahatthi of the Earth ; The foam is the Brahmahatthi of the rivers ; The cracks in the trees , are their Brahmahathhi ; The share of the women’s Brahmahatthi is their period !
What is the benefit of accepting this ? “ they asked me . The grains & plants will be created in the soil & will be useful to all the creatures ; the water will keep on flowing when it is drawn from the wells ; moreover the sages will bathe in the rivers & purify them ! ; the trees will create & give the fruits , vegetables , roots & samitthu { used in the yagna } & will live long ; The sins committed by the women will be added to their husbands account , but , the women won’t be connected with sins of the husbands ! The ‘ Motherhood ‘ will be highly celebrated by all ! “ thus I granted them boons & satisfied them all!
The first day of the period , sin of seeing a murderer ; the second day , sin of seeing robber , the third day , the sin of seeing the killer of a child will be attained . She will become pure by bathing on the fourth day . She MUST see her husband , children & the Sun , ONLY after eating an eatable with salt . If she sees them by not following this rule , she will become a sinner ; the longevity of life of her husband & children will be reduced ; She must not perform the pooja ; she must not take part in the functions of the temple , yagna & sraddha ! The person whoever compels for an inytercourse , will suffer from a cruel disease ; She is fit to do her domestic duties on the 5th day only !
A woman : from the 6th day of her period to the 18 th day : if she beds with her husband with pleasure in the nights of the even days of the 6 , 8 , 10 , 12 , 14 , 16 & 18 , she will bear a male child with with good qualities & devotion !
Generally , there is a chance of getting pregnant from the 4th day { of the period } to the 8th day ; The shuklam from the male & the shronitham from the female will be powerful , if they both join without any anger , sorrow & depression , both willing to have a sath puthra ! Out of this , if the shuklam of the male is more powerful , male child & a female child if the the shronitham is more powerful ; if both are equally powerful , the neuter gender will be born !
If the womb & the shronitham are powerful , on the 5th day from their intercourse , a bubble with the shuklam will form ; It will be formed with the flesh on the 14th day ; In one month it gets the connection of the Pancha Bhoothas { Earth , water , fire , air & the sky } ; the skin is created in the 2nd month ; the nerves in the 3rd month ; the figure & the hair in the 4th month ; the ears , nose & chest in the 5th ; the neck & the head in the 6th ; the genetic part in the 7th ; all the parts will be completed in the 8th month ; and the life is sent in the fetus !
It gets the Nadi called Suzhumunai in the 9th month { connected with breathing } ; The mother gets the labour pain in the 10th month , because the child kicks open the door of the womb !
When the Jeevan { Soul } is in the womb of the mother itself , its , longevity of life , education , the death time & way of death , the karmas according to its sin & punya of its previous birth are written by the Brahma . There is no doubt at all that the soul enjoys/suffers the result of its karma of its previous birth !
Garuda ! I have told the secret of the birth to the world , through you ! “

DESCRIPTION OF YAMAPATTANAM { CITY }
Vinatha Puthra raised the next question “ Swamin ! I request you to kindly tell me the route to yama’s city & about Yamalok ! “
Sriman Narayanan replied “ Suparna { garuda } ! On the way to Yamapuri , there will be heavy fire for some distance . Afterwards , it will be full of thorns & fire woods . After that , for some distance it will be unbearably cold .
I remind you again that the distance between Yamapuri & Bhooloka { Earth } is 86,000 kaadham ! { 1 kaadham = 10 miles } . Neither shadow to rest , nor water to quench the thirst , will be available to the sinners , throughout that route . Likewise , going through that route itself will be a punishment for tha cruel people ! Yamaloka is too strong that , it can’t be destructed even by neither the Devas nor Asurs . Yama’s palace is in the midst of that Lok ! That palace is is a square of 100 sq. Yojanas . { 1 Yojana = 100 miles } & with the height of 25 yojanas . There are lenty of windows in that palace . The palace is decorated with plenty of long pearl ropes & scented plants hanging everywhere ! The pillars of diamonds are dazzling . Always singing & dancing is going on in a wonderful mantap { Hall } there . The Yama Kinkaras { Yama’s soldiers } are standing there with folded hands . Yama is sitting in the centre with frearful shape & figure nicely touching his big mushtache & enjoying ! Nearby Yama’s palace , Chithraguptha’s palace is there ! It is a square of 25 Yojanas & the height of 10 Yojanas . it is also decorated with nine gems etc ; Chithraputhra is sitting on a wonderful throne & keeps writing the accounts sins & punya of the entire living beings of this Bhooloka ! There is not a single mistake committed in his accounts so far .
There are the residences of the very bad diseases surrounding his palace ! The boiling fever in the East ; fateful small pox etc in the South ; the diseases concerned with the stomach with kaalapasham { the rope used to tie & take away the souls from the body } in the west ; The diseases of the intestines in the North ; faint & fits in the South – East ; fearful cholera , diaorrehea in the South – West ; very high temperature , in the North – West ; all these diseases are waiting there for Yama’s orders .
Vainatheya ! { Garuda } , listen to the way they punish the sinners . In the South – West of Yama’s palace, the Kinkaras beat & torture with the ulakkai { the long wooden apparatus used to separate the rice from the paddy } ; some , hit with the sharp - thorned weapons ; some cut with the swords ; some put the souls into the huge Chekku { the machine used to take out the oil from seame , in the villages } , some fix the souls in the long iron rod & fry them in the big fire – pits ; some kinkaras cook the souls into the boiling copper liquid !
Garuda ! Plenty of copper dolls of male & female shining in the fire Yama kinkaras paste the souls whoever raped the others’ wives & the virgins ; they will question gaily , the highly suffering & yelling souls “ is it enjoyable with pleasure ? “ Likewise the women souls whoever cheated their husbands & the virgins spoiled themselves are shouting, yelling suffering , unable to gret away from thre burning male dolls ! The people must atlest try live properly in life atleast after listening this cruel punishment , in a death house !
Kashyap puthra ! Listen further ! Some souls are pushed into the machines , used tio take out the juice from the sugar cane ; some souls are pushed into the pits of the hell , which is full with the urine phlegm shit etc ; & push them back into it whenever they get up , with the sharp iron rods ; there will be the worms produced from the shit { who are very cruel sinners } , get into their mouths & noses & torture ; The floor & the compound walls of that pit is full of sharp stones .
The Kinkaras nail on the centre of the head of the following : - The idiots who don’t study & simply wander lazily , eventhough the parents send them to schools ; the people who milk the mother cow fully without leaving anything for the calf ; the persons who ate fully & with pleasure , when their relatives were suffering with hunger ; the persons who reduced the wages ; the persons cheated in anyway , accepting to accompany anybody ; the persons who spoiled other families by using the magic ; the great sinners who spoilt the river by passing urine & spitting ; the persons who bathe naked ; the persons who always stay in the brothel’s house ; the persons who torture their wives & children ; by listening others’ talks from hiding & creates fight & quarrels in a family ; the women who insult the husbands ; the persons who sell the wet paddy { without drying it } ! When they say they are very thirsty , Kinkaras will pour the boiling lead into their mouths ; by this some souls’ eyes will come out ; but , even then the Kinkaras will hit them at the back of their heads 1They will drop those sinners in the forest full of thorns & pull them on them . the sufferings of the souls by the Kinkaras , can’t be described fully at all . Hence one should do dhanam , dharmam , go on pilgrimage live properly & escape from the punishments of Yama ! “

could you please kindly clarify two questions for me regarding reincarnation.
1) When does a soul takes rebirth? Is it immediately after the first aardhikam/samvastareekam?
2) During what stage of pregnancy does a soul enters the body of the baby? Is it at the time of conception? (OR) sometime during 1st, 2nd or 3rd trimesters? (OR) just before the baby is ready to come out of the womb after 9 months?
